Names & Numbers 24-25
The 2023/2024 season coincides with the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the José Alvalade Stadium. The challenge was to provide the official typography for Sporting Clube de Portugal's Names & Numbers, with details that referred to that celebration, both visually and conceptually. When viewed from above, José Alvalade Stadium appears as a perfect circle as it happens with the first symbol of Sporting. The circle was placed at the center of the entire development process, metaphorically representing eclecticism traditionally associated with the club. It suggests progress, renewal, a new cycle...a new era! There was a concern to find a balance between concept and functionality, not forgetting to look for perfect circles or curves, creating characteristics capable to add personality to the typography.
